Rafe Maclean Architects took on the challenge of designing a home that would embrace the stunning beauty of Wānaka while seamlessly blending with its natural surroundings. The architects carefully integrated the Passivhaus principles into the design to achieve maximum energy efficiency, ensuring that the home maintains a comfortable and sustainable environment for its inhabitants.
The lighting journey commences at the driveway, where Flos Mile fixtures were thoughtfully placed to accentuate the property's exterior. These discreet fixtures line the edges of the driveway, providing a soft and inviting glow that guides residents and visitors to the front entrance. Flos Mile's sleek design and efficient illumination enhance the curb appeal, making a lasting impression from the moment one approaches the home.
Indoors, the heart of the home comes alive with Flos Tracking Magnet. The adjustable spotlight system enables the homeowners to direct light precisely where needed, highlighting kitchen countertops, artwork, and key living room features. The versatility of Tracking Magnet creates a dynamic and flexible lighting environment that adapts to various activities, such as cooking, dining, or relaxation. Moreover, the dimming capabilities enable the creation of different moods, enhancing the ambiance during gatherings and quiet evenings.
In the bathroom, Flos Mini Glo Balls C/W were used. These lighting fixtures diffuse a soft, warm glow, transforming the space into a tranquil space. Thoughtfully positioned, the Mini Glo Balls C/W eliminate harsh shadows, providing even and flattering illumination for grooming and relaxation.
