Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain in 1961. She studied architecture at Madrid Polytechnic and the Politecnico di Milano University, where she graduated in 1989 after completing her thesis with Achille Castiglioni.
Patricia served as an assistant lecturer to both Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli at the Politecnico di Milano University and E.N.S.C.I. in Paris before going on to the architectural firm de Renzio and Ramerino. There, she specialised in the architectural design of showrooms, restaurants, and franchising. She became head of the Lissoni Associati design group in 1996, working on projects for Antares-Flos, Cappellini, Cassina and others.
Inspired by the shapes of organs and flutes, Flauta's dual spotlights stand out thanks to a small circular reflector that captures and reverberates the light emitted.
"The Flauta collection meets a desire for the creation of an adaptable, changing project, ideal for contract or residential environments, both indoor and outdoor."

Euroluce favorites by Patricia Urquiola: Almendra, Flauta, Chasen, Serena,Tatou.
The Almendra lighting system was born from the idea of providing a functional, efficient, yet gentle and soft light with a highly comfortable emission, explains the designer,
“like the one that caresses the leaves of a tree outside the window of one’s home.”
At first glance, Serena appears to be in motion—it is a leaf blown by a gentle breeze, dancing through a current of wind. Inspired by the simple beauty of nature, this piece features a dynamic reflector that can be directed to obtain an intense, precisely reflected light.
