We are excited to announce that we are moving to a new warehouse to better serve our customers. During this transition, we will be pausing order fulfilment from 17th June to 1st July.
For the return of an event recognised as the most important source of inspiration for industry professionals, Flos created an unexpected and original exhibition concept, entrusting the setup of its stand to Calvi Brambilla, the Milanese architect duo who had acted as Design Curators for the brand since 2019.
The Flos exhibition design moved away from the idea of the large, open display typical of a trade fair stand, instead embracing a ‘capsule’ concept: a series of small architectural spaces formed by two intersecting volumes, cubic or cylindrical in shape.
Like a universe made up of many interconnected microcosms, the exhibition developed along a circular route, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in a comprehensive narrative of each individual product as they moved from one capsule to the next. It was a surprising and engaging journey through iconic pieces, avant-garde designs, and innovative technologies.
The first space of each capsule explored the abstract concept, insight, or creative spark from which the idea for the lamp was born. Visitors found monitors displaying videos that abstractly expressed the essence of each project. The lamps themselves were presented in the second part of each capsule, in all their sculptural and luminous glory. Here, visitors could appreciate the light effect of each piece, examine them in detail, and fully grasp their different uses and functions.
Covering an area of approximately 800 sqm, the Flos stand hosted a total of ten new products across all divisions: Decorative, Architectural, and Outdoor. The new collections stood out for their eco-sustainable features, ranging from the sourcing of recycled and recyclable materials to reduce environmental impact, to the abolition of glues and welding for ease of disassembly, repair, and replacement of the various parts, up to the design of more minimal, plastic-free packaging. These details were a concrete demonstration of Flos' commitment to the pressing issues of circular economy, energy saving, and attention to the environment.
Special Edition 2023
Flos previewed Taccia Special Edition in a brand new Matte White finish, ideal for the most elegant environments. All the components of the lamp, except the glass reflector, appeared in a sophisticated yet absolutely contemporary total white look. Once again, Flos reinvent's a masterpiece of design with the utmost respect for the original inspiration, updating it according to contemporary taste and needs.
Bilboquet, a table lamp designed by Canadian designer Philippe Malouin, marking his first collaboration with Flos. The lamp consists of two coloured cylinders connected by a magnetic sphere that acts as a joint, enabling the upper cylinder to rotate and direct the flow of light. The elements were inspired by the bilboquet, a game that originated in France in the 16th century, giving the Malouin lamp its name.
Black Flag drew inspiration from the pioneering and rebellious spirit of a famous punk rock band, serving as the latest outcome of Flos' collaboration with German designer Konstantin Grcic. It manifested as an extensible wall lamp, consisting of one vertical and three horizontal bars, ingeniously designed to occupy minimal space in its closed state and deliver maximum illumination when opened.
Céramique is the new collection of lights designed by Ronan Bouroullec for Flos, composed of three table elements with ceramic body and diffuser, featuring a lead-free crystalline lacquered finish that highlights the (entirely handcrafted) surface. The collection stems from the long experience the designer has developed on this material, appreciated for its strong expressive value and clear craftsmanship connotation.
2097 is now offered by Flos in an even larger and more striking version, with 75 bulbs, inspired by an original design of Sarfatti himself.
A new matte white finish joins the three existing finishes chrome, brass and matte black, available for all four versions of the chandelier.
Flos also brings back the 226/A wall model, characterised by an unusually long stem that resembles a halberd.
The Emi collection stems from Erwan Bouroullec's ambition to bring technology and quality from the professional world into lighting for domestic and hospitality settings. In this case, Flos’ proprietary technology gives birth to a programme of luminaires with compact dimensions equipped with a patented anti-glare optical unit.
The new family of workspace lamps by Flos Architectural offers maximum performance and lighting comfort in a minimal thickness, unique in the sector. Designed by Flos Architectural, Workmates is a family of luminaires with a contemporary language and essential lines, comprising suspension, ceiling, track and floor solutions.
My Circuit flexible track system by Michael Anastassiades, whose launch is celebrated at the Flos showroom in Corso Monforte, Milan, with a special installation and performance in six acts, as part of the FuoriSalone programme of events.
